Quail is not an exotic bird, but I happen to like them. I have seen them around in various places, but I have not been able to get a clear shoot till today. It is special to me after 2 years of chase.
Usually the male (as shown, with plummet) will lead the whole family while they are out in the open. Immediately when he heard the noise, he would send out emergency calls and the newbies would run and hide in the bushes in no time. The Dad tends to stand in a higher spot to assure that his whole family is all evacuated before he takes off himself.
